Friends: It has been a wild and windy day here on the west coast of British Columbia and during the recording of this week's podcast, our electricity was anything but stable, causing several audio outages throughout the show. Were it not for the amazing technology I now use to construct each weekly program, I would have never been able to get this show "in the can." Basically, what I ended up doing is taking seven segments of programming and stitching them all together into one flawless file for this week's show.

So, after a whole lot of extra work, the podcast is listenable and presentable. I do hope you enjoy this week's show.

DON'T FORGET, COMING SOON - SMILE 101. James Murphy has assembled an amazing group of presenters and will be going "live" with this streaming audio internet radio station FEBRUARY 14 - tune in to http://smile101.net to listen to the test streams and then bookmark this amazing site for 24/7 streaming audio from the U.K.

We will be a part of the line-up and when I have a schedule of the programming, I will pass it along.

Meanwhile, stay right where you are for this week's show.

And please ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE OF CKW.

Friends: Well, it couldn't last - the rain that is! A cold snap has settled on the lower mainland of British Columbia and besides a few inches of the white stuff, we now have very cold temperatures. Last night, with the wind chill, it dropped in some areas, to minus 20 Celcius - that is minus 4 for you Fahrenheit folk. Pretty cold for the west coast, that's for sure.

Friends: HAPPY NEW YEAR and with it another podcast from your friends here at CKW - powered of course, by DonsPodRadio.

After a couple of weeks off, the whole crew is back with some great sounds to kick off the new year. I know you are going to enjoy this program.

And, as mentioned on the podcast, I will mention it here as well - the format has once again been tweaked. Friends: Here is this week's "first week of December" podcast. Noticeably missing are seasonal tunes - those we will begin playing next week! So, for you who are already pretty tired of the same 100 Christmas tunes being played in a never ending rotation on some radio stations and in all the malls, here is a break from that format.

I truly hope you do enjoy this week's show.

CHRISTMAS??? Definitely not forgotten here at CKW/DonsPodRadio. If you scroll down to the "podcast" right below this one on the PODOMATIC site, you will find SIX - YES 6 - hour long files of nothing but the finest Christmas and Seasonal music you will hear anywhere. And, as an added bonus, on FILE 3 the lead tune is CHRISTMAS SNOW - words and melody by my daughter Stephanie - arranged and sung by our very own AL MURPHY. I know you will enjoy what is fast becoming a Christmas Classic here at the radio station.

If you download these files and either burn them to CD's or capture them on your MP3 player, all you have to do is SET THEM AND FORGET THEM - you will have some great music for hours on end.

Next week, our midweek podcast will be light and lively - the lighter side of the season.

Then, on December 21, a more traditional approach to the reason for the season.

Finally, the very last podcast of the year - simply a MAN AND HIS MUSIC - Al, James and Michael will be off on well deserved breaks and I will spin 75 minutes of non stop, wall to wall music for your "between Christmas and New Years" entertainment and enjoyment.

Please enjoy the celebration of the season - HAVE A COOL YULE and no, I am not at all afraid to say it.....

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL.

Friends: I always type the TRAX LIST before I do the rest of the weekly note, and while typing, I realized I had "I Can Help" by Billy Swan on the list twice. Now, it must be a mistake on the program log I thought. So I played the finished program back and guess what? I actually did play the tune twice......as I said last week, a mind is a terrible thing to loose..... This is a FIRST for me - I guess I picked up the CD and reloaded it, and was so intent on staying ahead of the music that I did not even twig to having played it just 15 or so minutes earlier. So, you get a double play - unintentionally!

Some great music this week - all but one played only once - you can rewind any time you like to hear any tune again and again and again.....

Congratulations to James Murphy on the announcement of his new venture coming in 2012 - SMILE 101 - a streaming radio station that I just know is going to be a huge success. And you heard it here, almost first!

Friends: All I can say is thank goodness for back-up discs - I am a slow learner and have been "burned" more than once, but now that I am recording my show directly to the computer, I still record to a back-up disc, just in case. Well, again this week, the computer quit working and the back-up disc came to the rescue. Whew!!! There is nothing more frustrating than to be doing a program which ends up being all for naught - and early in the history of this little hobby station, that happened a lot!

This week, some great hits from the archives including a long forgotten tune by Tony Fisher - and when you hear it, you will realize just how long ago these tunes were actually on the air, and what was happening in our world way back then.

Al is here on the 20's with the new sound of Retrospective (how many more weeks can I call it "new"?) - James is here with Motown and More, Michael at the bottom of the hour with Rock and Roll News, and Al again at 50 with Sport De Jour. Me??? I simply hit the buttons at the right time and play the music. Simple, right???!!!
