Friends: I know, I know - the last message from me contained some rather glaring errors, which I will now rectify. Somehow, my new studio calendar was showing the month as February, but the dates below were January. I did not notice it until several of you shot me email messages wondering what world I was living in - and of course the answer is obvious - the world of the '60's. Or last month, as was also obvious!

OK, lets try it again - the Winter Olympics commence one week from today - on Friday, February 12, and end Sunday, February 28. Thee, I believe that sets the record straight. Nice to see I have some attentive listeners and email readers.

Today, DonsPodRadio leaves the 1960's and enters a new and different decade and sound of Rock and Roll Radio. Rock, Roll and Remember 1970, originally podcast October 17, 2006 featured such artists as the Partridge Family, the Delphonics, Santana, Edwin Starr, the Jackson Five, Elton John and the Carpenters - to name but a few. I know you are going to enjoy this rebroadcast of the show.

Thanks for your support of DonsPodRadio/CKW

It is wonderful to get feedback by way of both email messages to the station and through the survey page.

Have a great Rock and Roll weekend

Cheers

Don

Friends: I am finally back on track with my podcasts and am happy to tell you all that podcast 180 (yes, that's right - 180) is now on BOTH sites and ready for your enjoyment.

Join the cast of regulars as we make our way through another 75 minutes of "a little talk and a little rock!" Also, in addition to the features on this week's program, Al Murphy is around with Olympic Facts - two short segments about the upcoming winter Olympics, just two weeks away!

If you do not visit the DonsPodRadio.com website regularly, maybe you should - especially the DAILY SMILE page. I just have to share today's joke with you. Please, to all the blondes out there - my apologies, but this is just too good!

Ever wonder how blondes remember their Passwords?

During a recent password audit, it was found that a blonde was using the following password:

MickeyMinniePlutoHueyLouieDeweyDonaldGoofy

When asked why such a big password, she said, "It had to be at least 8 characters long.

I am still laughing!

Friends: Here is Podcast 179 from the gang here at DonsPodRadio. Sorry for the delay in getting the music to you this week, but I have been extremely busy at my other "part time" job and simply did not have the time to record the show until today.

I hope you are all enjoying the rebroadcast of the Rock, Roll and Remember series, originally podcast back in 2006. What a difference in production quality!! The shows, while featuring some great music, were more than a little rough around the edges and in thinking back over the years since starting this station, I cannot believe the improvements in technology that I have introduced - all in order to bring you a tight, well planned and fun show, week to week.

We are a few short weeks from the start of the 2010 Winter Olympics, and to set the stage, Al Murphy is featured twice on this show, and will be on subsequent shows, with Olympic Facts - little vignettes on the Olympic games, their history and some of the little known stories behind the stories. I know you will enjoy this feature and of course, the regular features as well.

Oh yes, and this week, James Murphy, on his Murpy's Motown Moments, plays a great INSTRUMENTAL by none other than LITTLE STEVIE WONDER - listen and be amazed! James is heard each week near the end of the hour - this week at the 61 minute mark! Listen and rock your socks off!

Have a great week and thanks for tuning us in!

Friends: It has been a very busy week for me and I am very much behind in the production of this week's podcast. So, in order to keep the line open with some of the best Rock and Roll you will hear on the 'net, Flashback Friday - the rebroadcast of the ROCK, ROLL AND REMEMBER series originally aired in 2006 is now on the PodOMatic site and ready for your listening pleasure. You can access the PodOMatic player on the main site - www.donspodradio.com as well.

The regular weekly podcast #179 will air on Friday and should be on both sites by mid-afternoon.

(I guess I will just have to quit my part time job and get serious about keeping on schedule with the weekly programs!)

Here is an absolutely fabulous play on words I spotted on a sign-board today: BEAUTY IS IN THE EYES OF THE BEERHOLDER

Some things just have to be shared.

Thanks for your continued support of the web sites and the podcasts.

Friends: A day late, I know, but every once in a while the broadcast/podcast gremlins have their way with me and the equipment, and a whole lot of hard work goes right into cyberspace. I always thought FRIDAY 13th was considered a bad luck day - well WEDNESDAY 13th came in as a close second. Well into the podcast, I received an alert that the recording had "frozen" and was irretrievable. So, today, Thursday, I had to start all over again. Same good sounds, same great features - just a day late. Oh yes, and to top it off, our internet service was out for most of the day, so even if I had done a show, it would have been "in the can" until today.

Whew!!!

All the regulars are here for your listening enjoyment - Al Murphy on the 20's with Retrospective, James Murphy (no relation to Al) with Motown Moments, Michael Godin at the bottom of the hour with Rock and Roll News, Rollie the Goalie with a very funny story about a cat, and Joey Day too. In between the talk, I play the rock!

Some great music again this week. Have a listen - you will be glad you did!

Don't forget to visit the PODOMATIC site Fridays for the repeat of the Rock, Roll and Remember series, originally podcast in the summer and fall of 2006. This week we will be looking back to 1967.

Friends: First, let me thank each and every one of you for your support over the Christmas and New Year Holiday period. While you may have been enjoying some well deserved time away from the regular routines of life, you certainly were not staying away from the podcast sites. We had a record number of downloads over the festive season, and many were, of course, the Christmas Music Files. Again, I do thank you for making our music a part of your holiday entertainment.

This week, a High Energy (I hope) hour of features, music and fun! All the contributing podcasters are back for another year - Joey Day with his look at the Light Side of Life around the 10 minute mark of the show, Al Murphy with Retrospective heard on the 20's, Michael Godin with Rock and Roll News at the bottom of the hour, my alter-ego Rollie the Goalie and his stories from around the rink at the 50 minute mark, and last but certainly not least, James Murphy (all the way from Weymouth, England), with Murphy's Motown Minutes, (WOW, I'm out of breath!!!)

I do not know where the podcast journey will take us this year. Suffice it to day, we have come a long way since going on the Internet back in 2006 and we know that we are on a fun filled journey through the years of Rock and Roll. The destination? Unknown at this time, but "out there" somewhere!

Thanks for staying with us - and for your feedback on our work. It is appreciated!

Friends: I know, I fell asleep at the switch and missed the Flashback Friday post. Better late than never???

I thought this week's Flashback Friday episode of Rock, Roll and Remember deserved a bit of an explanation, so here goes! The podcast, originally posted September 5, 2006 as podcast number 29, marked the very first time that we were able to join two studios together - the main control studio here in Metro Vancouver where I push all the buttons and play all the music, and the satellite studio in Fergus, Ontario where Al Murphy sits and does his (prerecorded) Retrospective commentaries.

It took a lot of planning and a bit of (flawless) execution to pull this off, but given the technology I was working with in 2006, I think we managed quite nicely, thank you very much! So, by listening to this podcast, you can relive a part of the DonsPodRadio history - and mark once again, the very first (live) link between the two studios, many thousands of miles apart - and three time zones too!

So click on the player, then sit back and relive some of the best times in Rock and Roll history. The year was 1964 and we were Rocking, Rolling and Remembering.

Thanks for listening and supporting us here at DonsPodRadio/CKW.

Wow, two weeks and a wee bit before Christmas! Is it just me, or is the time flying by? It seems just yesterday we were all complaining about the heat of summer, and now the year is all but over! I guess as the years pass me by, time speeds up - or so it seems!

Be all that as it may, this week I have an action packed podcast - all the features are right where you expect to find them and in between, I play the music that you have come to expect from this podcaster. Every third tune is a sound of the season! I know you will enjoy this show!

Don't forget to visit the PODOMATIC site to download the FOUR HOURS of Christmas Music. I have had nothing but very positive feedback about these files, and you should join the throng and download them today! Music to carve the turkey by!

Next week, we move away from the normal format for the annual CHRISTMAS podcast. Join Al and me for some wonderful Christmas music our thoughts about the festive season, past and present.

The last two podcasts of the year will be simply A MAN AND HIS MUSIC - just me, a couple of turntables, CD players and a whole lot of great tunes. Those programs will be posted during the weeks of December 21 and 28. We should be back to regular programming in 2010 - January 4.

Thanks for your support - the sites keep getting busier and busier, and we truly do cover the globe with our sound!

Enjoy the holiday season, and prepare for a very MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Friends: Here is podcast 172 - and with it comes the start of the Christmas season here at the station. Mixed in with some of the best Rock and Roll you will hear anywhere are several seasonal pieces, just to get you in the Christmas Spirit. And, because I have the power of choice, the very first Christmas tune I play this year is the one written by my daughter Stephanie (words and music) and arranged and recorded by our own Al Murphy - "Christmas Snow!" It is the third tune into the show!

There are but a few weeks left until Christmas, and before you know it, that very special day will be upon us! To help you celebrate the season, the FOUR, ONE HOUR CHRISTMAS MUSIC files are now posted on the PodOMatic site and ready for download. Each file is around one hour long, and this year, I also posted the list of the tunes - you can copy and paste them into a document if you download the tunes and want the lists.

I hope you enjoy the music - as is often said on TV - just set it, and forget it! Four hours of music will keep you in the festive mood!

Here is the agenda for the next few weeks. Podcast 173 will be posted on or around December 9. Then our CHRISTMAS SPECIAL podcast, 174, will be posted on or around December 16. During the weeks of December 21 and 28, the podcasts will be simply titled A MAN AND HIS MUSIC - most of our regular contributors will be on Christmas vacation and I will be here all by myself, spinning the tunes for you.

So, please take the time to listen - and we hope you enjoy the hours of music we have arranged for you.

Remember, A LITTLE TALK, A LITTLE ROCK - all right here on DONSPODRADIO/CKW.

Friends: This week I really push the envelope and do my best to program just about as much music as I can fit into 70 minutes! Yes, all the features are here - Al Murphy with Retrospective, Joey Day with his program clip, Michael Godin and Rock/Roll News, James with Murphy's Motown Minutes, and of course, Rollie the Goalie and a look back at summer golf.

For those who regularly listen to the podcast, you know I often prattle on and on about local groups and actually play cuts from some who made it to the Top 40 Surveys, at least regionally, here on the west coast. Well, I have been looking and looking for a cut from a not so famous group called MOTHER TUCKER'S YELLOW DUCK - looking for years and years..... and guess what? I found that elusive cut - One Ring Jane - which you will hear on this week's podcast. For me, it was an instant trip back to the mid '60's when we used to frequent a bistro on 4th Avenue (the Village Bistro) where many of the local bands played - some actually achieving stardom! (Poppy Family as an example) Mother Tucker was one of the bands that played there often, and this tune was their signature song. I hope you enjoy it. I am not going to tell you where it is - you will have to listen to find it!

One month to Christmas! Which brings me to this item. On November 30, I will be posting 4 HOURS of Christmas Classics and Favourites to the Podomatic site - 4, one hour files that you can download, play from your computer, play from your MP3 player, or burn to CD's and enjoy anywhere, anytime.

These files will remain on the site until the new year, so you will have plenty of time to access them and enjoy the music. No Talk, No Rock, just great Christmas Sounds.

Well, that's it for me - the countdown begins!

Talk again next week....

Welcome to Flash-back Friday and ROCK, ROLL AND REMEMBER REVISITED (1957).

Back in June, 2006 I embarked on a journey through 20 years of Rock and Roll, and starting with the year 1956, played the top 15 to 20 songs of each of those years.

The lists are those compiled by Billboard Magazine and are actually the songs MOST REQUESTED by radio listeners across Canada and the United States at that time.

Last Friday I started with the year 1956 and some great old tunes from that year.

This week, we look at 1957 - when Rock and Roll was still very much in it's infancy.

So, sit back, let your thoughts drift back, click on the player, and let us take you to the year 1957.
