Here is the very rough cut video from Podcast 170. I plan to refine it somewhat, but for now, here is what I have so far.

I am learning a bit about mixing video, audio and adding effects, and thus far, I am not very good at it. But I will keep trying.

Friends: It seems like a long, long time ago that I opened a simple little website in order to share my "radio" hobby with a few friends. Well, over the years, that hobby has grown as has the list of friends - may new "cyber" friends have joined the host of listeners who tune in each week, and it is that support that keeps us going strong.

I can hardly believe that we are now into the 170's - well over 170 hours of a LITTLE TALK AND A LITTLE ROCK - and that is not including the special podcasts and music files that you have been able to download and enjoy - all from DonsPodRadio.

This week, much more music and a fast paced and very tight format that keeps the music coming your way for the best part of 70 minutes. Yes, the regular features are right where you expect to find them, but between them, I do my best to squeeze as much music as possible into the mix.

I hope you like this new, faster paced format.

Also, you will hear me reference the web cam! I ran the camera during this podcast, and I am hoping there is enough usable video to post a short video byte on the donspodradio website - watch for it over the coming weekend - it does need some edits! Also, you will be able to access it on You Tube - DONSPODRADIO.

Here is another program note - you will be able to download 4 HOURS of Christmas music from the Podomatic site starting the first week of December. There will be 4 one hour files for your listening and downloading enjoyment. I limit the files to one hour for those who download and burn to CD in a .WAV format! The first order of business this week is to thank everyone for the email messages regarding the Remembrance Day Podcast 168. It is very kind of you to take the time to write us, and we are pleased to know you found this program listenable and perhaps memorable.

This week, we are back with much more of the music you have come to expect from us here at the station - as well as all the features. Joey Day and the gang talk about Cigars around the 10 minute mark of the show, Al Murphy is by with the history of the Berlin Wall and the day the wall fell - his Retrospective comments are on the 20's, Michael Godin at the bottom of the hour with Rock and Roll News, Rollie the Goalie at 50 with some more classics from "dumb jocks" and our newest feature, Murphy's Motown Minutes - James Murphy drops by around the 55 minute mark with a Motown classic from his studio in Weymouth, England. In between all this action, I play some of the best oldies you will hear anywhere.

Don't forget, we will be doing another two hours of Christmas Sounds for your listening and download pleasure - listen to the podcasts or check the website for the exact date. This year, I have some new, old Christmas tunes in the archives and will be including many of them in this year's offering.

Today, we leave all the Rock and Roll Music in the Shack Out Back, and in it's place, pull out some of the music our parents or grandparents listened to way back when!

Join my friend and podcast partner, Mr. Al Murphy and me for an hour of memories - musical memories and spoken word memories - memories of loved ones who endured the atrocities of our world at war.

Even while our soldiers were fighting on battlefields in Europe, Africa, Italy, and in the Pacific, back home our entertainers were hard at work making music to keep up the morale of the troops. Today, we play some of those tunes and feature those wartime recording artists, some of whom are still making music today.

On November 11, at 11:00 a.m. please take a minute to REMEMBER!

I read a very short statement a number of years ago that really drives home the point of remembrance:

Canadians - If you can read this, thank a teacher
If you are reading this in ENGLISH, thank a VETERAN!

Many men and women fought and died so we can enjoy the freedom we have today.

Friends: Another Friday and another edition of Rock, Roll and Remember! This week, a look back to the year 1959 and some of the hits we listened to way back then.

We hope you are enjoying this "retrospective" look back at 20 years of Rock and Roll. It was fun to record these programs some three years ago - and still fun to listen to them once again.

Friends: I trust you all had a wonderful Halloween evening, tricking or treating - and that you also remembered to move back to Standard Time (for those in North America). It is always a treat to get an whole extra hour of sleep and not feel guilty about it!

Friends: This week, our annual HALLOWEEN SPECIAL. It promises to be a SPOOK-TACULAR EVENT and I do hope you will take the time to listen. A lot of work went into the production of this program and I would like to offer my sincere thanks to Al Murphy, James Murphy, Joey Day and Michael Godin for their contributions to the podcast.

Right from the start, this show is different from all other podcasts, in that it carries the theme of Halloween pretty much right through the whole hour. In some places, I will admit, it gets a bit macabre, but that is all the fun of Halloween!

In my attempt to create the ultimate and unique listening experience, around the 50 minute mark of the program you will hear a very special recording of the MONSTER MASH - a recording I pulled together a few weeks ago, and with Al Murphy's permission, have used it on the show. Welcome to Flash-back Friday and ROCK, ROLL AND REMEMBER REVISITED (1957).

Back in June, 2006 I embarked on a journey through 20 years of Rock and Roll, and starting with the year 1956, played the top 15 to 20 songs of each of those years.

The lists are those compiled by Billboard Magazine and are actually the songs MOST REQUESTED by radio listeners across Canada and the United States at that time.

Last Friday I started with the year 1956 and some great old tunes from that year.

This week, we look at 1957 - when Rock and Roll was still very much in it's infancy.

Have you noticed a wee bit of a change in the format of the programs of late? More music, less chatter between the tunes? Well, in keeping with the catch phrase of our podcast, a little rock and a little talk, I am working hard on the "little talk" part!

Friends: If you have been to the DonsPodRadio site lately, you will note a few subtle changes - the site has not been all that busy of late, and I have taken a lot of the old files off the site, leaving only current information for you.

Every week, I upload the current podcast to the site, as well as the features from Al Murphy and Michael Godin. This Day in Broadcast History is always current, and of course, you Daily Smile! So, if you have not visited us for a while, now it the time to get caught up.

Thanks to everyone who wants more from DonsPodRadio. This little hobby has developed a life of its own, and I am afraid that I cannot possibly commit the air time to more music that some would like. Having said that, I am going to add another full hour of podcasts to the sites, commencing tomorrow, Friday, October 16. Way back in 2006, we did a 20 program show of the top 15 to 20 songs from the years 1956 through 1975.

For those new to this podcast, a replay of this series of shows is an excellent way to go back in time musically, and also to hear what DonsPodRadio sounded like way back then!!!! Starting with Podcast 21 from June 26, 2006, you will hear the full 20 weeks of podcasts - available only on the Podomatic site.

Way back in 2006, we here at DonsPodRadio embarked on a whirl-wind musical ride over 20 years of Rock and Roll Music. Titled ROCK, ROLL AND REMEMBER, the series of programs started in the year 1956 and featured 15 to 20 of the MOST REQUESTED SONGS of each year as chronicled by Billboard Magazine.

We know there are many new fans who have never heard this series, so after due consideration, we have decided to replay the whole series.

Each Friday, until the series is complete, another podcast will be posted.

REMEMBER, THESE PODCASTS WERE ORIGINALLY RECORDED STARTING IN JUNE, 2006 AND SOME OF THE MATERIAL MAY BE DATED, however, the music stands the test of time and is fun to listen to once again.

To those north of the 49th here in North America, Happy Thanksgiving! To keep the music coming your way, this week, MOSTLY MOTOWN from your friends at DonsPodRadio/CKW. This is a great podcast with some very funny segments - starting with Joey's Feature at 10 minutes - Joey, Denny and the D Man listen to a little girl who phones a demolition company in order to get her school knocked down. Very funny stuff.

Later in the show, I play a telephone answering message from a local police department, sent my way by a long time friend and former work colleague of mine. Again, very funny stuff! Listen around the 37 minute mark of the show for this call.

Al Murphy looks at Athletes' Superstitions, Michael is here with Rock and Roll News, and of course Rollie the Goalie with some thoughts from between his pipes! The TV tune this week should bring back a few memories.
