<itunes:summary>Once each week, Big Daddy Donald Roberts along with that Little Irishman Al Murphy bring you a full hour of great GOLDEN OLDIES from www.donspodradio.com. Listen to some of the greatest tunes ever recorded, every week!

Al Murphy visits on the 20's with RETROSPECTIVE - a 20/20 look back on issues of interest to Al, and hopefully you as well.

Michael Godin from Treasure Island Oldies stops by on the half hour for three minutes of ROCK AND ROLL NEWS and the newest member of the podcast team, Joey Day is here with his Look at the Light Side of Life, around 10 minutes into the show.

Big Daddy fills in all the gaps with light banter and awesome music.
As always, it is great to know you are listening!

PODCAST 171 FROM DONSPODRADIO/CKW

Friends: This week I really push the envelope and do my best to program just about as much music as I can fit into 70 minutes! Yes, all the features are here - Al Murphy with Retrospective, Joey Day with his program clip, Michael Godin and Rock/Roll News, James with Murphy's Motown Minutes, and of course, Rollie the Goalie and a look back at summer golf.

For those who regularly listen to the podcast, you know I often prattle on and on about local groups and actually play cuts from some who made it to the Top 40 Surveys, at least regionally, here on the west coast. Well, I have been looking and looking for a cut from a not so famous group called MOTHER TUCKER'S YELLOW DUCK - looking for years and years..... and guess what? I found that elusive cut - One Ring Jane - which you will hear on this week's podcast. For me, it was an instant trip back to the mid '60's when we used to frequent a bistro on 4th Avenue (the Village Bistro) where many of the local bands played - some actually achieving stardom! (Poppy Family as an example) Mother Tucker was one of the bands that played there often, and this tune was their signature song. I hope you enjoy it. I am not going to tell you where it is - you will have to listen to find it!

One month to Christmas! Which brings me to this item. On November 30, I will be posting 4 HOURS of Christmas Classics and Favourites to the Podomatic site - 4, one hour files that you can download, play from your computer, play from your MP3 player, or burn to CD's and enjoy anywhere, anytime.

These files will remain on the site until the new year, so you will have plenty of time to access them and enjoy the music. No Talk, No Rock, just great Christmas Sounds.

Well, that's it for me - the countdown begins!

Talk again next week....

Cheers

VIDEO - A ROUGH CUT - PODCAST 170

I am learning a bit about mixing video, audio and adding effects, and thus far, I am not very good at it. But I will keep trying.

Thanks for listening and in this case, for watching.

PODCAST 170 FROM DONSPODRADIO/CKW

Friends: It seems like a long, long time ago that I opened a simple little website in order to share my "radio" hobby with a few friends. Well, over the years, that hobby has grown as has the list of friends - may new "cyber" friends have joined the host of listeners who tune in each week, and it is that support that keeps us going strong.

I can hardly believe that we are now into the 170's - well over 170 hours of a LITTLE TALK AND A LITTLE ROCK - and that is not including the special podcasts and music files that you have been able to download and enjoy - all from DonsPodRadio.

This week, much more music and a fast paced and very tight format that keeps the music coming your way for the best part of 70 minutes. Yes, the regular features are right where you expect to find them, but between them, I do my best to squeeze as much music as possible into the mix.

I hope you like this new, faster paced format.

Also, you will hear me reference the web cam! I ran the camera during this podcast, and I am hoping there is enough usable video to post a short video byte on the donspodradio website - watch for it over the coming weekend - it does need some edits! Also, you will be able to access it on You Tube - DONSPODRADIO.

Here is another program note - you will be able to download 4 HOURS of Christmas music from the Podomatic site starting the first week of December. There will be 4 one hour files for your listening and downloading enjoyment. I limit the files to one hour for those who download and burn to CD in a .WAV format! I hope you will truly enjoy this music - THE SOUND OF CHRISTMAS from DonsPodRadio - featuring Christmas Snow, words and music written by my daughter Stephanie - arranged and sung by our own Al Murphy.

So, what are you waiting for??? Click on one of the links and start listening to A LITTLE ROCK AND A LITTLE TALK, all from me and all my podcast friends right here at CKW/DonsPodRadio.

Cheers

PODCAST 169 FROM DONSPODRADIO/CKW

The first order of business this week is to thank everyone for the email messages regarding the Remembrance Day Podcast 168. It is very kind of you to take the time to write us, and we are pleased to know you found this program listenable and perhaps memorable.

This week, we are back with much more of the music you have come to expect from us here at the station - as well as all the features. Joey Day and the gang talk about Cigars around the 10 minute mark of the show, Al Murphy is by with the history of the Berlin Wall and the day the wall fell - his Retrospective comments are on the 20's, Michael Godin at the bottom of the hour with Rock and Roll News, Rollie the Goalie at 50 with some more classics from "dumb jocks" and our newest feature, Murphy's Motown Minutes - James Murphy drops by around the 55 minute mark with a Motown classic from his studio in Weymouth, England. In between all this action, I play some of the best oldies you will hear anywhere.

Don't forget, we will be doing another two hours of Christmas Sounds for your listening and download pleasure - listen to the podcasts or check the website for the exact date. This year, I have some new, old Christmas tunes in the archives and will be including many of them in this year's offering.

Tomorrow, Friday the 13th, check the Podomatic site for the Rock, Roll and Remember Replay of the year 1960. I know you will enjoy this walk down memory lane!

Thanks for listening. Thanks for your email messages.

Now, click on the link to the site and let's ROCK AND ROLL.

Cheers

<itunes:summary>The first order of business this week is to thank everyone for the email messages regarding the Remembrance Day Podcast 168.

Cheers

PODCAST 168 FROM DONSPODRADIO/CKW - REMEMBRANCE DAY 2009

Today, we leave all the Rock and Roll Music in the Shack Out Back, and in it's place, pull out some of the music our parents or grandparents listened to way back when!

Join my friend and podcast partner, Mr. Al Murphy and me for an hour of memories - musical memories and spoken word memories - memories of loved ones who endured the atrocities of our world at war.

Even while our soldiers were fighting on battlefields in Europe, Africa, Italy, and in the Pacific, back home our entertainers were hard at work making music to keep up the morale of the troops. Today, we play some of those tunes and feature those wartime recording artists, some of whom are still making music today.

On November 11, at 11:00 a.m. please take a minute to REMEMBER!

I read a very short statement a number of years ago that really drives home the point of remembrance:

Canadians - If you can read this, thank a teacher
If you are reading this in ENGLISH, thank a VETERAN!

Many men and women fought and died so we can enjoy the freedom we have today.

Thank you for supporting us here at DonsPodRadio/CKW.

This week, a look back to the year 1959 and some of the hits we listened to way back then.

We hope you are enjoying this "retrospective" look back at 20 years of Rock and Roll. It was fun to record these programs some three years ago - and still fun to listen to them once again.

Stay tuned for the Remembrance Day Special from DonsPodRadio this coming Monday, November 9, 2009.

The regular weekly podcast will be heard Thursday, November 12.

And, with Christmas just around the corner, I would like to take this opportunity to remind you all that DonsPodRadio will be featuring another 2 hours Christmas Music Special on the Podomatic site only, early in December. There will be two, one hour files posted, so you can either download them to an MP3 player, burn them to CD's or listen on line. Any way you chose to listen, I know you will enjoy the seasonal music we will be presenting. No Talk, No Features, just great Music. Stay Tuned for that!

Thanks for your support. Our audience keeps growing!

Until next week.

Cheers

Friends: I trust you all had a wonderful Halloween evening, tricking or treating - and that you also remembered to move back to Standard Time (for those in North America). It is always a treat to get an whole extra hour of sleep and not feel guilty about it!

This week, much more music on the podcast. The regular features are all in place, including the newest addition to the show - Muprhy's Motown Minutes, heard around the 55 minute mark of the show. Do you remember the bit fad of the late 60's and 70's - the CB radio? I had a CB and used to chat with people near and far! Well, this week, on the segment from Joey Day, we listen in to Denny Powell talking about his parents and their CB experience. Very funny stuff!

Al Murphy takes a look at Mistakes that Made Good, Michael Godin drops by with 3 minutes of Rock and Roll News, and of course, the pundit between the pipes, Rollie the Goalie is around at the 50 minute mark of the show. Between all the great features, I play some of the best oldies you will hear anywhere - and always a request or two!

So, what are you waiting for - click on the link and listen while you surf the net, read your email, or simply sit back and enjoy an action packed hour of music, news, information and fun.

Don't forget FLASHBACK FRIDAYS on DonsPodRadio. Every Friday I am posting one of the shows from the Rock, Roll and Remember Series, originally podcast in 2006. This week, 1959 is featured.

Thanks for listening.

PODCAST 166 FROM DONSPODRADIO/CKW - HALLOWEEN SPECIAL

Friends: This week, our annual HALLOWEEN SPECIAL. It promises to be a SPOOK-TACULAR EVENT and I do hope you will take the time to listen. A lot of work went into the production of this program and I would like to offer my sincere thanks to Al Murphy, James Murphy, Joey Day and Michael Godin for their contributions to the podcast.

Right from the start, this show is different from all other podcasts, in that it carries the theme of Halloween pretty much right through the whole hour. In some places, I will admit, it gets a bit macabre, but that is all the fun of Halloween!

In my attempt to create the ultimate and unique listening experience, around the 50 minute mark of the program you will hear a very special recording of the MONSTER MASH - a recording I pulled together a few weeks ago, and with Al Murphy's permission, have used it on the show. I hope you enjoy my spoof of Bobby "Boris" Pickett!

To all my friends and podcasts listeners, have an enjoyable Halloween this year.

Also, remember, for many of us around the world, it is time to set our clocks back one hour. On Sunday morning at 2:00 a.m. we return to "Standard Time" - and if you can never remember which way to turn the clock, remember this - Spring Ahead, Fall Back!

Enjoy this edition of our podcast, and HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!.

FLASHBACK FRIDAY - ROCK, ROLL AND REMEMBER REVISITED - 1957

Welcome to Flash-back Friday and ROCK, ROLL AND REMEMBER REVISITED (1957).

Back in June, 2006 I embarked on a journey through 20 years of Rock and Roll, and starting with the year 1956, played the top 15 to 20 songs of each of those years.

The lists are those compiled by Billboard Magazine and are actually the songs MOST REQUESTED by radio listeners across Canada and the United States at that time.

Last Friday I started with the year 1956 and some great old tunes from that year.

This week, we look at 1957 - when Rock and Roll was still very much in it's infancy.

So, sit back, let your thoughts drift back, click on the player, and let us take you to the year 1957.

Thanks for listening

PODCAST 165 FROM DONSPODRADIO/CKW

Have you noticed a wee bit of a change in the format of the programs of late? More music, less chatter between the tunes? Well, in keeping with the catch phrase of our podcast, a little rock and a little talk, I am working hard on the "little talk" part!

This week's show really moves along - with some excellent features with Joey Day and the gang from JDAZE, Al Murphy and his Retrospective Commentary, Michael Godin with Rock and Roll News and Rollie the Goalie with his weekly visit.

And, if that isn't enough, this week I am thrilled to introduce yet another feature to the hour - this one is all about the music. I am pleased to announce that commencing this podcast, Mr. James Murphy from the UK (Vinyl Morpher Radio, People Hold On and Pure Grooves Podcasts) will be dropping by with a feature we are calling MURPHY'S MOTOWN MINUTES. Yes, each week, James will be here with a Motown Sound from his expansive library of Motown Music. The Four Tops entertain this week!

Could one pack much more into an hour long podcast? Well - listen and find out!

NEXT WEEK, THE HALLOWEEN SHOW! If there is a Halloween tune you would like me to play on the show, just answer this email with your request and I will dig the tune out from the "grooveyard" and get it on for you.

Thanks to everyone who not only listens to the podcast, but takes the time to communicate back to us here at the station. Your comments and criticism is much appreciated and is the springboard to the continuous improvement of our shows.

Until next week, when we will have a SPOOK-TACULAR time, thanks for listening and visiting the sites....

Take good care - it's 'flu season and an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Cheers

PODCAST 164 FROM DONSPODRADIO/CKW

Friends: If you have been to the DonsPodRadio site lately, you will note a few subtle changes - the site has not been all that busy of late, and I have taken a lot of the old files off the site, leaving only current information for you.

Every week, I upload the current podcast to the site, as well as the features from Al Murphy and Michael Godin. This Day in Broadcast History is always current, and of course, you Daily Smile! So, if you have not visited us for a while, now it the time to get caught up.

Thanks to everyone who wants more from DonsPodRadio. This little hobby has developed a life of its own, and I am afraid that I cannot possibly commit the air time to more music that some would like. Having said that, I am going to add another full hour of podcasts to the sites, commencing tomorrow, Friday, October 16. Way back in 2006, we did a 20 program show of the top 15 to 20 songs from the years 1956 through 1975.

For those new to this podcast, a replay of this series of shows is an excellent way to go back in time musically, and also to hear what DonsPodRadio sounded like way back then!!!! Starting with Podcast 21 from June 26, 2006, you will hear the full 20 weeks of podcasts - available only on the Podomatic site.

This week, a full hour of some of the best music you will hear anywhere,l including some great CANCON (Canadian Content). The Guess Who, The Poppy Family, Tom Northcott and Bobby Curtola are but a few of the artists featured this week.

Al drops by with Retrospective, a look at the Guess Who, Michael is at the bottom of the hour with Rock and Roll News, Joey Day is here with his Look at the Lighter side of Life, and of course, back by popular demand, Rollie the Goalie drops in from the crease.

So what are you waiting for - drop by the site and have a listen.

And, don't forget to tune in at the end of October - our Halloween special will be aired, and it will be SPOOKTACULAR!

Until next week....

Cheers
